Middle stanza sez it all, particularly after this past TAKS-ing week. Have I recommended Philip Levine to you before? Detroit poet (in the earlier days; now splits his time between Fresno and Brooklyn). Beautiful poems of working folks, particularly in his collection What Work Is.

You have and I have him bookmarked. I love his portrayals. He paints the old Detroit for me, not the hollowed out hulk that it has become.
